Steve Jobs was famously quoted in 1981 saying that “we want to make computers that will change the world. We want to put a ding in the universe.” He didn’t simply set out to make a better computer. In 1952, Dr. Virginia Apgar devised a simple and repeatable method for evaluating the health of a newborn child, the Apgar Score. To this day, her one-minute test is the first wellness checkpoint for babies around the world. Dr. Apgar’s brilliantly conceived examination has saved countless newborn lives, and impacted each of us in a profound way.

Mark Zuckerberg and his college roommates launched Facebook in 2004 from their dorm room. Less than a decade later Facebook has over one billion active users. 1 out of every 7 humans on the planet use Facebook to connect, share, chat, and spy on their co-workers. Facebook changed the 21st century. It is utterly and completely ubiquitous.
